Help for the Orphanage--Laundry
Just knowing there is laundry to be done for the young people who live at Niños y Jovenes in San Juan seems a very positive thing. The most positive line in the following plea for help is the request for garbage bags to hold the belongings that are still CLEAN.
This email from this moring:
Hello Friends
This message is going out to ask for assistance for the San Juan Cosala Orphanage. This orphanage is home to 100 children who are now temporarily in Jocotopec.
Thursday late afternoon we went to the orphanage to see if we could help. There were about 20 officials shoveling mud out of one of the 7 dorms. The buildings are still intact and officials said they will be fine once the mud is removed. Everything in the dorms is covered in mud and needs to be cleaned. This is where the volunteers are needed.
We need a lot of help to wash and dry all the clothing and bed linens. We have been assured it is only mud, no sewage.
The first task is to strip the 7 dorms of all clothing and linen. We will need a few pickup trucks to haul the stuff to our farm near San Juan Cosala. From here we need people to pick up the laundry, take it home and clean it. Once it is clean we need a secure, dry place to store everything until the orphanage is ready for it.
If you have been wondering how you can help this is a way to get involved.
We need to act on this right away so get in touch with us immediately. We need the trucks and assistance gathering the laundry by noon Friday Sep 14. We will begin distributing as soon as we get the laundry to our farm.
We also need approximately 100 clear garbage bags for the children?s personal belongings that are still clean.
Please forward this to anyone you think may help.
Respond by email with your name and phone number and we?ll get back to you.
Prepare to get dirty
