How many Vanier scholarships are there?

Up to 166 scholarships are awarded annually 1; A total of up to 500 scholarships are active at any time.

The value of the OGS is $5,000 per session. Thus, awardees may receive $10,000 for two consecutive sessions or $15,000 for three consecutive sessions. In all instances, the awarding graduate unit will contribute to one-third the cost of the total award received by the students.

For this reason, the name was changed from Eastview to Vanier, in honour of the first French-Canadian Governor General, Georges-Philéas Vanier.
